Hey growers. I just want to ask which light is better for a grow tent with the size of 3'x3'x6'. This is to those who have experience using tents. I'm planning to start an indoor grow space using a tent, but I don't know which one would give me the best results. I've been thinking about using a 1000 watt LED from King LED lights since I've heard good reviews on it, especially the ratings, BUT I've also seen other growers on YouTube have good success using 600 watt HPS lights, and it looks pretty dank. Which one yields better bud for the price? Do LED's grow good dank bud, or HPS the way to go in this case?

People typically use 1000w for a 5x5. At 3x3 600w would probably work well. I can't speak for LED as I'm strictly HPS

Genetics result in bud quality. You could run 10,000w and it still wouldn't produce potent bud if the genetics aren't good.

That's new to me. I didn't know genetics had anything to do with it. I came to the conclusion that a 1000 watt HPS would produce dankness no matter what the strain was. Thanks for the info. What genetics or seeds have you grown that had great trichrome production. I'm going for that frostiness.

You can get great frosty nugs with bulbs from 400W - 1000..

With HPS heat becomes more problematic the more the Watts.

I found that in enclosed areas 600W is about max you can go without getting into trouble..

I was growing in closet that was a bit smaller than your dimensions and I bumped up from 430 to 600. I ran a bit hotter than whats optimum but had good results.

I have zero experience using LED but there are some here that do

This thread will make you cry some beautiful plants..but its in a room..

http://skunkskool.co...ts-2015/page-80

genetics are 80% of the game IMO... you can have commercial bag beans and get good.. and you can buy whats supposed to be great and get crap..

But well made beans come after many crosses/back cross and work to weed out the male/hermi shit and get to a good stable strain..
There are many interesting threads here to look through.

for me, I find the Kush Strains (OG, Bubba, Candy..etc) are exceptionally frosty....

luck.

I've only bought seeds once. Sativa seeds blackberry. It was OK, but not the purple one. I think I bought feminized LA Confidential too but they hermied and I never finished it out. All my good genetics were bred over a period of years by a friend of mine.

Bag seeds are generally hermies but can turn out well sometimes. My first grow was bag seed and it turned out well with less than 10 seeds for a quarter pound.

I've seen Sour Lifesaver, which I believe is a BOG strain, and that was pretty proper.

When it comes to purchased seeds you need to remember that you won't necessarily get the phenotype that they advertise on the packaging. For example Blackberry, from what I recall people had to grow out dozens of plants to find the purple one on the packaging.

ahi threre a 400w or 600w air cooled light would be ok for a 3'x3' tent ....but i also seen some great grows using high rating1.000w  LED lights ..

sixstring here at skool makes up his own LEDs using cob LED lights and has buds to drool over ,,but even the 1'000w what you are thinking of getting will throw some heat out in your tent ,,,peace,,mac,

I had 1 Jamaican bag bean and was one of my best plants ever..it grew to 10 feet.

I wish I had my old NL, friesland bag beans now.. they always sprouted and grew well and never hermi'd..

1st time I had males it was from supposed "stable'  fem beans. Now they could have gotten stressed..but 1 plant...

Hmmmmmm...lol

tents are a constant issue for heat among other things...
but my grow space was 22" x 20" by 8ft
I could get 2-3 reg plants or 6 autos in there.

Only thing that sucked was it was right at front door..lolol

Ahhhh. I would LOVE to have more space to grow, but at the moment that's all my space is allowing me to have without it feeling like it is too much maybe in the future maybe. I will get some quality stuff and I'm spending a pretty penny on this stuff. I'm getting a good ventilation/filter/and light system. The light system itself is expensive. (LEC 315). So I have a lower budget.

You have to work with what you have..

when I 1st came online I saw people growing Auto Flower strains inside empty computer cases and attaching extra comp fans ..

My 1st grow was done with CFL bulbs 100-150W eq.

sure the nugs weren't tight but plant grew..

Thats 1st step...I've seen people spend 1,000's of $'s and they just can't keep a plant alive.

If you have a black thumb 1000W and 100 sq ft room doesn't matter.

There is a bunch of those grows with those computer cases on YouTube. I've seen like 20 of those when I was younger and man I had a good time watching those videos; the buds turned out not so frosty and fluffy but they had some decent flowers.

Some pot is better than no pot....lol

I started to see good bud quality when I got a 430 HPS..

and better with 600.

I wish to hell I was growing when I had a house..

being in Apt made it hard. landlord was cool so there was that at least.

I did see it and those are the new COB style lights aren't they? Nice, but too expensive for now.

Thanks for the welcome. What is the lifespan of each one of those COB's?

I don't have LED experience but read they last 3-10x longer than HPS which should be changed every 2 yrs or so.. some people that can afford it change HPS yearly.

Nothing sucks more than a dead bulb and no back up..and a panic buy..lol

Biggest thing is less heat..
